Orange-Ulster BOCES Proudly Honors GED Graduates from Port Jervis

On Tuesday, June 16th Orange-Ulster BOCES honored sixteen GED graduates from its Adult Education program. A ceremony was held for the GED recipients who received their high school diplomas before an audience of proud families and friends in the auditorium of the Port Jervis Middle School. Dr. Mary Ann Wilson, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction at Orange-Ulster BOCES, spoke about the perseverance and dedication of these students and advised them not to stop with a high school diploma but to keep moving forward in their education. Mr. John Xanthis, Superintendent of the Port Jervis City School District, was also on hand to congratulate the students, as well as June Franzel, Director of the Orange-Ulster BOCES Adult Education Program.
Steven Aroosian was honored as Student of the Year. Korean War Veteran and graduate Jerome Dash spoke to his fellow students and the audience about the importance of obtaining a high school diploma and never letting go of dreams.
