Orange-Ulster BOCES Career & Technical Education Center Thanks Business Partners
Each
year in June, the Orange-Ulster BOCES Career and Technical Education
Center holds a breakfast to thank their work-based learning partners
who have been instrumental in providing hands-on, real world work experiences
for students in the various Career Academies at CTEC.
This year, 60 business partners enjoyed a sumptuous breakfast prepared by the staff and students in the Culinary Careers Academy. The purpose of the gathering was to thank the representatives from these businesses for providing exceptional opportunities for CTEC students to experience their chosen career fields. These employers provided paid work experience, guest lectures, field trips and/or clinical work experiences for students.
Also honored were members of the CTEC Advisory Council, a group of local business people who meet several times a year to assist the CTEC educators in reviewing and refining the CTEC academy programs.
The Partnership Breakfast program was conducted by CTEC Director Jodie Yankanin and her staff. One of the highlights of the morning included Erin Anderson, a Health Careers Academy student from Goshen, and Kelvin Cordero, a Culinary Careers Academy student from Pine Bush. Both students spoke about how their educational experience at CTEC has positively impacted their future plans.
