As one of the longest running programs in Orange-Ulster BOCES, Raymond C. Cramer Elementary School is recognized as a tradition in excellence. It is designed to meet the needs of multiply disabled/developmentally delayed children ages 5 to 13. The staff is dedicated to providing a supportive environment, which is uniquely tailored to encourage each child to reach their highest level of independence. Each day students work on developing activities of daily living, readiness, academics, recreational and pre-vocational skills. Programming is comprehensive and supported by a team approach, which includes teachers, therapists, counselors, nurses, and most importantly, parents of family members.

Class Sizes and Student Offerings

9:1+3/6:1+2 Classes

Students enrolled in these classes benefit from the intensive support provided by additional personnel. The classes address New York State Learning Standards through Alternate Grade Level Indicators, which emphasize functional academics, Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Skills, social and recreational skills.

8:1+1 Classes

Students in these classes demonstrate emerging independence, but still benefit from the academic and behavioral supports provided by a small class ratio. New York State Learning Standards are met through either Alternate Grade Level Indicators or through core curriculum instruction and assessment.

6:1+1 Classes

Students placed in these classes exhibit behaviors which interfere with the instructional process. These students require a highly structured program, which emphasizes behavior management techniques and the use of differentiated instructional strategies to promote academic success and social/emotional growth.
