Activities

Community Involvement

 

Students in the John A. Flannery High School work with the United Way of Orange County. Intermediate students correspond with the Veterans Hospitals. The Raymond C. Cramer Secondary students assist in a local soup kitchen, regularly visit an area nursing home and volunteer at a non-profit community action agency for food and clothing drives.The belief that opportunities such as these make better citizens in the future is the driving force behind these activities.

 

Adventure Based Learning Experience (ABLE)

 

Philosophy

To provide an opportunity to be challenged both physically and emotionally in a supportive, fun-oriented, safe and non-threatening environment.

 

Goals

To increase an individual’s sense of confidence and self esteem through positive physical and emotional risk-taking activities.To involve students in activities which promote self-responsibility and responsibility to others.To demonstrate personal commitment to group success.To increase the level of participation and sense of fun.

Students in the Raymond C. Cramer Secondary Program enjoy a prom each Spring which is planned in part by the Student Government and implemented by the program staff. Alumni of the program are invited to attend the prom and an annual Alumni Dance. The prom has an extremely positive effect on the students throughout the school year and provides motivation for improved student performance in all aspects of the school curriculum.

Special activities are an important aspect of the students' overall school program. These activities encourage the development of healthy interests, skills, teamwork, sportsmanship and self-confidence.
