John A. Flannery HS/Jr. HS Students at Orange-Ulster BOCES Donate To Local Veterans
On May 22, students and staff in the John A.
Flannery HS and Jr. HS held a United States Veteran’s Exposé at
the Emanuel Axelrod Education Center to shed light on the difficulties
many United States veterans face after their service in various wars.
The event featured several members of the Wheelchair Crusaders who are handicapped veterans from Castle Point in Beacon who participate regularly in “wheelchair games”. These veterans visited with the students and staff and spoke about what they do every day to overcome their personal obstacles. The students also did research about United States war veterans in order to create displays and posters to inform others about today’s veterans.
Most importantly, through this day-long event, the students raised $825 for the Wheelchair Crusaders.
